Closet Seasonal Swap Checklist#

Purpose#

Use this prompt-only skill when a user wants a practical checklist for changing a closet from one season to another. The deliverable is a friendly, low-pressure plan for pulling out current-season items, storing off-season pieces, checking fit and condition, handling repairs, labeling bins, and making the closet easy to use.

This skill is for seasonal organization only. It does not push donation, resale, discarding, minimalism, body commentary, fashion judgment, or valuation guidance.

Safety Boundary#

Keep all clothing decisions user-led and reversible when possible. Do not pressure the user to donate, sell, discard, or assign monetary value to clothes. Do not shame item quantity, size changes, style preferences, sentimental items, or budget constraints.

If an item is not currently useful, suggest neutral holding choices such as store, repair, tailor, launder, try again later, or place in a clearly labeled decision bin. Do not frame donation as the default outcome.

Core Principles#

• Make the upcoming season easy to dress for.
• Keep off-season items protected, labeled, and findable.
• Separate cleaning, repair, storage, and try-on tasks.
• Avoid making too many decisions in one session.
• Use visible labels and simple zones.
• Preserve user choice about what stays, stores, or waits.

Required Inputs#

Ask only for details that help build the checklist:

• Current season and upcoming season.
• Closet type: reach-in, walk-in, shared, dresser, wardrobe, entry closet, or mixed storage.
• Main clothing categories: tops, bottoms, outerwear, shoes, accessories, formalwear, workwear, sportswear, or kids clothing.
• Available storage: bins, garment bags, under-bed bags, shelves, drawers, hooks, or suitcases.
• Time available: quick 30-minute reset, half day, or full weekend.
• Climate concerns: heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, dust, or pests.
• Pain points: overcrowding, missing items, wrinkling, unlabeled bins, laundry backlog, or repair pile.

Do not ask the user to justify why they keep items.

Workflow#

1. Set the season goal. Define what needs to be easy to reach for the next one to three months.
2. Clear a staging area. Pick a bed, table, rack, or clean floor area for sorting by category.
3. Pull obvious off-season items. Move clearly out-of-season pieces into a temporary stack without making keep-or-discard decisions.
4. Bring forward current-season items. Place frequently used items at eye level, front rail, top drawer, or easiest shelf.
5. Check condition and readiness. Flag laundering, mending, missing buttons, shoe care, weatherproofing, lint removal, or dry-cleaning needs.
6. Create storage zones. Group off-season items by category and label bins with season, contents, and date packed.
7. Build a decision-light holding area. Use neutral labels such as try later, repair, special occasion, sentimental, or fit check.
8. Reset the daily-use closet. Leave breathing room, put outfit helpers together, and keep weather gear near the exit if useful.
9. Schedule small follow-ups. Add brief tasks for laundry, repairs, labels, or retrieving missing items.

Spring-to-summer swap:

I need to swap my closet from spring to summer. I have a reach-in closet, dresser, and under-bed bins. I want to put away heavy sweaters and coats, bring out shorts, dresses, and sandals, and check what needs mending or cleaning. Help me make a calm, no-pressure checklist.

Quick 30-minute reset:

I only have 30 minutes today but my closet is a mess of winter and summer clothes mixed together. Can you give me a fast seasonal swap checklist that focuses on the most important things: pulling out what I won't wear for the next few months and making everyday clothes easy to grab?

Family closet changeover:

I need to rotate seasonal clothes for two kids and myself. We have bins in the garage for off-season storage. I want a checklist that keeps it simple: sort by person, label bins clearly, check what still fits, and put weather-appropriate clothes front and center. No pressure to donate anything.

Quality Bar#

A strong result feels like a calm home routine, not a closet purge. It should help the user find seasonal clothing quickly, protect stored items, and finish with fewer loose piles while avoiding donation pressure, resale advice, valuation guidance, or shame.
