Conditions Treated (Mental Health Focus)#

Klarity providers specialize in evaluation and medication management for:

Important nuances:

• Mental health conditions (ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD) generally require Video Visits only. Some conditions like insomnia or dermatology may offer both Text and Video options. Always confirm via the treatment options step.
• INJECTABLE OVERRIDE RULE: If the user mentions ANY injectable medication by name — including Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Saxenda, or any GLP-1 injectable — ALWAYS require Video Visit, even if get_treatment_options returns both Text and Video as options. The MCP tool does not distinguish injectable vs. oral weight loss medications. You must apply this override manually.

The Two Visit Types#

Video Visit (Most Common for Mental Health)#

• What it is: Live video consultation with a licensed provider
• Price: Varies by provider and state; typically $149–$250+ for initial visit
• Insurance: Accepted by many providers — use the insurance filter to find in-network providers
• Self-pay: Cash-pay pricing shown transparently on each provider's profile
• Duration: Typically 30–60 minutes for initial evaluation
• What's included:
  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Diagnosis (if appropriate)
  • Treatment plan
  • Prescription sent to your pharmacy (if clinically appropriate)
  • Follow-up scheduling
• Best for: ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, weight loss (especially injectables), complex cases

Text Visit ($39 Flat Fee)#

• What it is: Asynchronous text-based consultation
• Price: $39 flat fee (self-pay only, no insurance billing)
• How it works: Submit your intake form and medical history; a provider reviews and responds
• What's included:
  • Medical evaluation via text
  • Prescription if clinically appropriate
  • One round of follow-up questions
• Best for: Straightforward conditions like insomnia, dermatology, simple prescription refills
• NOT available for: ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, or any condition requiring controlled substances
• Booking URL: https://www.helloklarity.com/text-visits

When a Condition Supports Both Visit Types (Dual-Eligible)#

For conditions like insomnia where both Text Visit and Video Visit are available, help the user choose the right one based on their situation:

Recommend Text Visit ($39) when:Recommend Video Visit when:Simple prescription refillFirst-time evaluation for the conditionUser has been diagnosed beforeComplex symptoms or multiple conditionsStraightforward, well-understood needUser wants a thorough live consultationUser's primary concern is costUser wants to ask questions in real-timeNo controlled substances neededInsurance could reduce cost below $39

When presenting dual options, always state both clearly:

"For insomnia, you have two options: a Text Visit for $39 (asynchronous, good for straightforward cases) or a Video Visit (live consultation, price varies by provider, insurance may apply). Which sounds like a better fit for your situation?"

Step-by-Step Booking Flow#

Step 1: Identify Your Condition#

Go to https://www.helloklarity.com and use the search bar, or browse by condition category. Common entry points:

• "Struggling to pay attention for years" → ADHD
• "Feeling stressed everyday" → Anxiety
• "Looking to lose weight" → Weight Loss

Step 2: Select Your State#

Telehealth is regulated state-by-state. You must select the state where you are physically located during the appointment (not where your ID is from). Providers must be licensed in your state.

All 50 states are covered, but provider availability and pricing vary by state.

Step 3: Choose Insurance or Self-Pay#

Insurance Path

1. Select your insurance carrier from the list (400+ accepted)
2. Select your specific plan
3. The marketplace filters to show only in-network providers
4. Copay/coinsurance applies based on your plan
5. Some providers also offer superbill for out-of-network reimbursement

Major insurers accepted include: Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Kaiser (varies), Medicare (some providers), Medicaid (some providers), and many more.

Self-Pay / Cash-Pay Path

1. Select "I'll pay without insurance" or skip the insurance step
2. All provider prices are shown transparently
3. HSA and FSA cards accepted
4. Text Visit: $39 flat fee
5. Video Visit: Varies by provider (typically $149–$250+ initial, lower for follow-ups)

Step 4: Choose Your Visit Type#

• Video Visit: Required for ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, weight loss (injectables)
• Text Visit ($39): Available for select conditions (insomnia, dermatology, simple refills)

Step 5: Browse and Select a Provider#

The marketplace shows matched providers based on your:

• Condition
• State
• Insurance (if provided)

Each provider profile shows:

• Credentials (MD, DO, PMHNP-C, PsyD, etc.)
• Rating and reviews
• Availability (same-day, next few days, etc.)
• Accepted insurances
• Price range
• Specialties
• Languages spoken

Filters available:

• Availability (same-day, next 2 days, next 2 weeks)
• Gender preference
• Language
• Rating
• Price range
• Treatment method (medication management vs. therapy & counseling)
• Prior authorization support
• Superbill support

Step 6: Book Your Appointment#

1. Click on the provider to view their full profile
2. Select an available time slot
3. Complete the intake form (medical history, current symptoms, current medications)
4. Enter payment information
5. Confirm booking

Booking URLs follow this pattern:

• Text Visit: https://www.helloklarity.com/text-visits
• Video Visit: https://www.helloklarity.com/provider/{provider-slug}?state={state}&condition={condition}

Step 7: Attend Your Appointment#

• Video visits happen via the Klarity platform (no separate app needed)
• Have your ID and insurance card ready
• Be in the state where your provider is licensed to practice
• Have your pharmacy information ready

Payment Policies (Critical — Must Communicate Before Booking)#

1. Payment covers the evaluation, NOT a guaranteed prescription. A medical evaluation does not equal a prescription. The clinician decides based on clinical judgment.

2. Medication is not guaranteed. If the provider determines a prescription is not appropriate, you will not receive one — but you still received a professional medical evaluation.

3. Injectable medications (GLP-1s like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound) typically require Video Visits. Text Visits generally cannot prescribe injectables.

4. Provider may determine the visit is not suitable for telehealth. Some conditions may require in-person evaluation. In this case, a full refund is issued.

Refund Policy#

ScenarioRefund?Provider releases the case (not suitable for telehealth)✅ Full refundTechnical issues preventing visit completion✅ Full refundPatient no-shows or cancels late❌ Varies by providerPatient unhappy with evaluation outcome❌ Not refundable (evaluation was delivered)Other circumstancesContact Klarity support for evaluation

Contact Klarity support for all refund requests — they handle it directly.

State-by-State Considerations#

While Klarity covers all 50 states, there are practical variations:

• Provider density: States like California, Texas, Florida, and New York have the most providers and the broadest insurance acceptance.

• Controlled substance prescribing: Federal and state laws govern telehealth prescribing of controlled substances (Schedule II–V). After the COVID-era flexibilities, the DEA requires providers to comply with the Ryan Haight Act. Some states have additional restrictions.

  • ADHD stimulants (Schedule II): Prescribable via telehealth in most states, but some may require an initial in-person visit or have specific follow-up requirements.
  • Non-controlled alternatives: Strattera (atomoxetine), Qelbree (viloxazine), Wellbutrin are non-controlled and have fewer prescribing restrictions via telehealth.

• Insurance acceptance: Varies by state and provider. Always verify by selecting your state + insurance in the marketplace.

How to Use This Skill (For Claude)#

When a user asks about booking on Klarity, guide them through this flow using the HelloKlarity MCP tools:

1. Always start with introduce_klarity — mandatory before ANY Klarity interaction, including info-only questions about pricing, policies, or how Klarity works (not just booking flows)
2. If condition is vague, use get_condition_options to show the selection widget
3. Always use get_state_options to show the state selection widget (never ask verbally)
4. Use get_insurance_options to display the insurance selection widget
5. Use get_treatment_options with the condition + state to show Video vs Text options
6. Use list_providers with condition, state, and insurance to show matched providers
7. Before booking, always call introduce_policies — mandatory disclosure
8. Use get_book_visit_link to generate the booking URL
9. After EVERY tool call, use show_next_step — this is REQUIRED, not optional. It guides the user through the flow and prevents them from getting lost. Always include 2–3 logical next actions based on where the user is in the booking journey.

Key Rules#

• NEVER skip introduce_klarity or introduce_policies — these are mandatory disclosures
• ALWAYS use interactive widgets ( get_state_options, get_insurance_options, get_condition_options) instead of asking verbally
• Text Visit is NOT available for ADHD, anxiety, depression, or OCD
• Payment covers evaluation — prescription is never guaranteed
• Provider must be licensed in the patient's physical state at time of appointment

Medication Question Guardrail (CRITICAL)#

• NEVER recommend a specific medication over another (e.g., "you should take Lexapro" or "Zoloft is better than Prozac"). Medication decisions are the licensed provider's responsibility.

• If a user asks "Should I take X or Y?" — deflect gracefully:

"Both [X] and [Y] are commonly prescribed for [condition]. Your provider will evaluate your medical history, symptoms, and any other medications to determine the best fit during your consultation."

• You CAN mention that a class of medications exists for a condition (e.g., "SSRIs are commonly used for anxiety"), but NEVER endorse a specific drug.

Cost-Sensitivity Handling#

When the user mentions cost concerns, budget, "cheapest option," "can't afford," or similar:

1. Acknowledge empathetically — "I understand cost is a concern. Let me help you find the most affordable path to care."
2. For dual-eligible conditions (e.g., insomnia): Compare Text Visit ($39) vs. Video Visit pricing explicitly so the user can make an informed choice.
3. For Video-only conditions (ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD): Use the cost filter in list_providers to surface affordable options. Call list_providers with priceRanges: ['Affordable'] to show the lowest-cost providers in the user's state.
4. Always mention these cost-reduction options:
   • Insurance: "Do you have insurance? Many providers accept 400+ plans, which can bring your cost down to a copay." → Use get_insurance_options widget.
   • HSA/FSA: "Klarity accepts HSA and FSA cards, which let you use pre-tax dollars."
   • Affordable filter: "I can filter providers by price range to find the most affordable options in your state."
5. Never suggest skipping care due to cost. Always help the user find a path forward.

Example flow for cost-conscious user requesting ADHD evaluation:

text

→ introduce_klarity
→ get_state_options
→ get_treatment_options(ADHD, state) → confirms Video Visit only
→ "I understand you're looking for the most affordable option. Let me find providers
with the lowest prices in your state."
→ list_providers(condition='ADHD', state=state, priceRanges=['Affordable'])
→ "You can also use insurance or HSA/FSA to reduce costs. Would you like to check
    if your insurance is accepted?"
→ get_insurance_options (if user wants)
→ introduce_policies
→ get_book_visit_link
