📝 THE POST
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

The biggest myth about remote work productivity?

That employees need to be seen to be effective.

After managing distributed teams for 8 years, I've learned something counterintuitive:

The most productive remote workers aren't the ones working longer hours.

They're the ones working SMARTER.

Here's what high-performing remote teams actually have in common:

1/ Presence over performance
Stop tracking hours. Track outcomes.
When someone delivers excellent work on their schedule, the "when" becomes irrelevant.

2/ Async-first communication
Real-time meetings should be the exception, not the default.
If a Slack message can answer it, don't schedule a call.

3/ Explicit over implicit
Assumptions kill remote productivity.
Be clear about expectations, deadlines, and success metrics—even when it feels obvious.

4/ Documentation as a habit
If it wasn't written down, it didn't happen.
Build a culture where documentation is valued, not seen as extra work.

5/ Trust as the foundation
Micromanagement doesn't work remotely—it just creates resentment.
Hire people you trust, then actually trust them.

The shift isn't about tools or surveillance software.

It's about fundamentally rethinking how we measure work.

What aspect of remote productivity do you find most challenging?
