Lethe is the durable memory layer for the agent. The Lethe OpenClaw plugin owns the configured server connection, session context, assembly, and compaction lifecycle.
Use the registered Lethe tools for agent-turn memory operations. Do not construct raw HTTP requests, invoke curl, or execute the bundled CLI helper from an agent turn. This keeps endpoint selection and authentication in the trusted plugin configuration.
The plugin context engine handles session bootstrap and assembles relevant memory automatically. When an explicit lookup is needed:
lethe_search with focused terms before re-reasoning about prior work, decisions, status, people, dates, or preferences.eventType: "flag" to review unresolved uncertainty, and surface relevant flags before continuing old work.Use the narrowest registered tool:
lethe.record for decisions, conclusions, and commitments; include the reasoning and constraints.lethe.log for discoveries, fixes, and meaningful status updates.lethe.flag for unresolved risk or uncertainty; provide a confidence from 0.0 to 1.0.lethe.task for durable work-item state; use todo, in_progress, done, or blocked, and link transitions with parentEventId when available.Record after completing non-trivial work, changing a decision, fixing a problem, discovering reusable technical facts, raising or resolving uncertainty, or closing a significant task.
lethe-log helper is a manual CLI fallback, not an agent-turn interface. It accepts only loopback by default. Remote use requires explicit opt-in, an HTTPS endpoint, and an exact endpoint in LETHE_ALLOWED_REMOTE_ENDPOINTS; it never follows redirects. The plugin context engine owns automatic bootstrap, memory assembly, post-turn persistence, and compaction. Use the normal plugin lifecycle for those operations. Do not manually mutate Lethe storage or delete historical events to resolve a conflicting memory; surface the conflict and ask for a decision.
Use a thread when a topic spans sessions or needs a durable open question. Associate records and flags with the thread through the plugin's normal event fields when supported. Resolve uncertainty by recording the resolution; historical flags remain part of the audit trail.
After a memory write, confirm the tool result includes a Lethe event identifier or an explicit successful task transition. After a search, distinguish no matches from an unavailable Lethe service. At session close, ensure the task is marked done only when the requested outcome and verification are complete.
